At Little Stars Nursery, all activities are carefully planned and are appropriate to each age group. The nursery is divided into three groups:

Babies (0-2’s)

Toddlers (2-3’s)

Pre-School (3-5’s)

All children are assessed individually and will move to the next room when both parents and staff feel they are ready.

The baby unit is a very homely, yet stimulating room. We work with parents to ensure that the routine at nursery is as similar as possible to the established routine at home. All activities are carefully planned to encourage development which include story time, rhymes and songs on a daily basis. Staff are trained in ‘Tiny Talk’ baby sign to encourage pre-verbal communication.

The baby room has a separate milk kitchen, nappy changing area and safety surfaced outdoor play area.

The children are now starting to become more independent and we will encourage development through a carefully designed programme of activities. These include arts and craft activities, imaginative and sensory play, construction, stories, music, singing and role play. These activities take place both indoors and outdoors. The toddler room has its own child size toilets and nappy changing area.

The staff within our preschool room have many years of experience in supporting children to develop the foundations that are needed to prepare for school. We deliver this in our child-centred preschool room in accordance with the principles outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  The Early Years Foundation Stage is a framework for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

The Little Stars Team ensures that each child is learning through high quality play. Key people move children on to their next steps in development by observing their play, knowing what interests them and providing them with challenges. This ensures that each child is enjoying and achieving.

At Little Stars we believe outdoor learning is essential to a child’s development. We have created three outdoor play areas incorporating a mixture of grass and safety surface. The children can enjoy a wide range of stimulating outdoor equipment, vegetable plots and much more!
